I collect almost nothing.

The short version. This is a personal website. The only information I collect is what you choose to send me through a form. I do not run advertising trackers, analytics, or social media pixels, and I do not sell or share your information.

What I collect

When you use a form. If you write to me through the form on the Come along page or the home page, I receive your name, your email address, and your message.

Standard server logs. Like nearly every website, my web host keeps routine technical logs, which can include IP addresses, browser type, and which pages were requested. Those are used only for security and troubleshooting.

That is genuinely it. This site does not run Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or social media pixels, and there are no third-party embeds collecting data on you.

Why I collect it

To reply to you. That is the whole reason. If you write to me, I want to be able to write back.

Where it goes

These pages are plain files. There is no database behind this site and no account for you to create, so there is nothing here holding your details in the first place.

Form submissions are handled by a third-party form service, which passes your message to my email and keeps a copy so nothing is lost in transit. From there it sits in my inbox like any other email.

Cookies

This site sets no marketing or tracking cookies. The form service may set a basic cookie to prevent spam and duplicate submissions.

Comments

There are no comments on this site, so nothing is collected that way.

How long I keep it

Your message stays in my email until I no longer need it. If you would like it deleted, write to me and I will remove it.

Who I share it with

No one. I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. The only parties who technically handle it are my web host, the form service that delivers your message, and my email provider.

Links to other sites

This site links out to other places, including Drunken Unicorn and the Chasing the Unicorn podcast. Once you follow a link off this site, this policy no longer applies, and those sites have their own.

Age and content

This site is not intended for children, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. This site also writes about bourbon and is intended for readers of legal drinking age.

Your choices

You can ask me what I have, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Send me a note through the Come along page and I will take care of it. Every email I send also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Changes

If this policy changes, I will update the date at the top of this page.
